LILA SENIOR
Musical Director
Lîla is a classically-trained musician and award-winning composer, songwriter, music producer, orchestrator, song arranger and music educator. Based in Forres, in her local community she’s composed songs for The Culbin Singers, the Rising Stars youth choir, and written for and directed the women’s a cappella choir, Too Many Kooks, who featured on Gareth Malone’s ‘The Choir’ for the BBC.
Lîla joined the Singers in 2018 and very much enjoys directing them, creating arrangements and writing tuneful and uplifting songs to add to their colourful and varied repertoire. In rehearsals, her main focus is on the joy of singing together and the good health and happiness that it can bring. She likes to get the best out of the singers using vocal techniques and exercises, physical movement and increasing awareness of sound, body and breath.
With an honours degree in music and a master’s degree in soundtrack production & composing for the screen, Lîla has performed, recorded and composed for film, TV, animation, dance, theatre, classical ensembles, orchestras and folk bands as well as choirs. Her inspiration comes from listening to the sounds of Nature and her instrumental music can be heard online at soundcloud.com/lilasenior.
